Just in time for hurricane season...
This is the 1st of 7 parts.
Not a blog more like another pier banyan tree, a place to come & sit for a little while & wait for something fun to happen. A place for all the greezers, candyasses, Halloween egg throwers, former Publix bagboys & dirt bike riders to kill a little time until Halloween. Just like the good old days, wait around for a couple hours until you could find some geezer to buy you beer...

The Beach Store And Naples Theatre
What can I say, this place along with it's owners (Margaret & Arnold Haines) defined what was GREAT about early Naples. It was the hub of activity in the late 60's mostly because that's all there was to do. The theatre had an auto dispensing soda machine & the cup would drop down but NEVER upright. You'd usually get a half cup of syrup & some ice & a hand full of soda trying to stand the cup upright. I guess that's what the Crying Room was for you were always 10 cents poorer & still thirsty.

The Old Trailways Bus Station Building & Beach Cab Company
The building is still there at the east end of the new parking garage on 9th Street & 6th Avenue South. The businesses are both gone & so is the water tower, but I guess you'd have to had fell off the turnip truck not to know that one wouldn't you?

Lowdermilk Park
Enjoy the COLOR photographs they're few & far in between & probably the best I've ever seen. I'll be going back to black & white which are pretty common but older Naples photo's are getting harder to come by.
