Not a blog more like another pier banyan tree, a place to come & sit for a little while & wait for something fun to happen. A place for all the greezers, candyasses, Halloween egg throwers, former Publix bagboys & dirt bike riders to kill a little time until Halloween. Just like the good old days, wait around for a couple hours until you could find some geezer to buy you beer...
Great picture! Love the old fire truck at the far right. Sure looks like Naples finest were ready to take on the bad guys!
ReplyDeleteActually the old police station pictured here is still standing to this day at the corner of 8th Ave So & 8th St So. It looks very different now but it's still the same building. The fire station to the right was torn down in the mid 90's when the built the present fire station at that site.
What a wonderful photo! I have never seen this one before and my grandfather Chief Cale Jones is there, standing on the far left. He was Naples chief of police for many years. Thanks so much for posting. This brings back a lot of good memories.
ReplyDeleteDab Barber and I had to wait here for our Dads to pick us up for jumping off the old Moorings bridge. Can't remember who else was with us that got away..around 1966.
