. . .1961 I think . . .

Not a blog more like another pier banyan tree, a place to come & sit for a little while & wait for something fun to happen. A place for all the greezers, candyasses, Halloween egg throwers, former Publix bagboys & dirt bike riders to kill a little time until Halloween. Just like the good old days, wait around for a couple hours until you could find some geezer to buy you beer...
I still have my badge, mine is metal but star shaped. They give the kids plastic ones these days, sucks.
ReplyDeleteThe one in the picture is metal and likely produced in . . . er, 1961.
ReplyDeleteWhat year for the star shape?

ReplyDeleteDon't know when they started with the star badges, but I got mine in '74-'75.
My star is from '68 - '69.
ReplyDeleteNote Dale Bremmerman - the first man killed in Viet Nam from Naples. His mother, June, taught biology at NHS and drove a little MGBGT.
ReplyDeleteIt was front page news when Dale died.
I believe that Junior Deputies was started in 1960 and John Rogers was the sheriffs department deputy that headed it up. They used to take the boys out to the woods for a weekend where we learned rifle shooting/safety and other "guy" stuff.
