Not a blog more like another pier banyan tree, a place to come & sit for a little while & wait for something fun to happen. A place for all the greezers, candyasses, Halloween egg throwers, former Publix bagboys & dirt bike riders to kill a little time until Halloween. Just like the good old days, wait around for a couple hours until you could find some geezer to buy you beer...

Naples Municipal Airport
So you could drive up to the terminal find a parking place at the front door. Walk in with your bags with no metal detector in sight, get your ticket & walk out across the runway step in a puddle of oil & board your plane? What's wrong with this picture, the only thing you thought about was is this plane ready for the mosquito plane army? Am I drunk or is this thing weaving sideways down the runway? You'd usually get up to about 6th grade with your life flashing before your eyes & the plane would hit cruising altitude......

I actually dared the GODS twice and flew on PBA (Provincetown Boston Airlines)DC-3 (tail draggin' gooney bird). Once to Key West and once to Tampa. Somewhere I have pics boarding one of those flights. As you can see from the picture above, there was actually a screen door you walked through to go to the ticket counter. Then you would proceed out the back screen door and walk about 50ft to board your flight climbing up the retactable steps...What? lol!
ReplyDeletePBA was a seasonal airline, and would only fly out of Naples October thru May for those who weren't here back then.
Here's some very interesting YouTube links to PBA and its DC-3
I hope you don't mind Danny. I think they add to the Naples terminal picture and story.
